A regular session of the commission in charge of considering petitions of Belarusian citizens, who stay abroad and need to know whether they face charges in Belarus, has been held, BelTA learned from the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The session was chaired by Belarus’ Prosecutor General Andrei Shved.
In particular, after completing the necessary verification steps members of the commission looked into a number of petitions submitted so far this year.
After reviewing the petitions, the commission decided to inform the citizens about the absence of administrative proceedings into misdemeanors punishable by administrative arrest, about outstanding warrants for administrative arrest, about criminal proceedings, resolutions that recognize them as suspects or guilty persons as of the date the relevant petitions were submitted. Other decisions will focus on informing the petitioners about their status in an administrative investigation or a criminal investigation.
The Prosecutor General’s Office reminded that the commission’s term of office and the deadline for submitting petitions had been extended till 31 December 2024.
