MINSK, 13 June (BelTA) – The State Security Committee (KGB) has successfully completed the interagency antiterrorist exercise Burya-Antiterror 2024 [antiterrorist storm], KGB representatives
told BelTA.
The exercise has been organized for the sake of making sure government agencies, other state-run organizations, and agencies in charge of fighting terrorism are ready to do their job and carry out their combat missions in the face of terrorist threats.
The main goal of the exercise was to ensure a high level of readiness of state bodies for organizing and implementing state measures in response to acts of terrorism, activities of terrorist organizations and illegal armed units. The organization and tactics of actions of territorial units of state bodies in the course of suppressing activities of an illegal armed unit in Brest Oblast were practiced.
Attention was also paid to organizing control and interaction of forces and assets of the entities in charge of fighting terrorism in the course of a counterterrorist operation meant to neutralize the illegal armed unit in Brest Oblast.
The exercise involved two stages. During the first stage events took place in Bereza District, Ivatsevichi District, Baranovichi District, and Lyakhovichi District of Brest Oblast. During the second stage events took place in Ivatsevichi District of Brest Oblast.
Forces and assets of state security bodies, law enforcement units and interior troops of the Internal Affairs Ministry, the State Border Committee, the Armed Forces, the Presidential Security Service, the Investigative Committee, the State Forensic Examination Committee, the Emergencies Ministry, the state healthcare system, the prosecution service, municipal executive and administrative bodies, and other agencies took part in the exercise.
Results of the accomplished missions demonstrated that the forces and assets, which took part in the exercise, can effectively respond to acts of terrorism in today’s realities.
